So I have briefly read through your analysis of Gojo and Would love to know your opinion on his upbringing and the possibility of him being Autistic. As someone with Autisim, I heavily identify with how he was raised (the gifted child who is too observant vs the prophesied child who was raised to be a weapon first) and the way other react around him (treating everything he says and does with disdain)

I find the way he clings so strongly to the idea of strong and weak even after Geto and Toji yet still having a sense of justice/ noticing the unfairness of it all, his sensitivity issues, his ability to notice emotional cues yet not having the means to respond in an allistic way, his tendency to take his jokes and teasing too far/ act too close to people, and the general othering of him just screams autism to me. Like can see a lot of those traits which is usually tamped down by society being exasperated because, what are you going to do, he is the strongest, you can't just tell him off in a serious way, not when, in your society, the strong rule.

I see it especially with his students, where he's taken in all the misfits and is so casual with them in day to day life. Even him throwing them in the proverbial deepend with missions is probably how he was taught by his clan before entering jujitsu tech.

Not going to lie, I just assumed everyone agreed that Gojo is autistic as hell. I never even thought to argue for it because it’s so obvious. (Like Laios from Dungeon Meshi.) Anyways, I completely agree with you and you should make your own post about it actually.

And because Gojo and Sukuna are the same dude, I also think Sukuna is autistic as hell. Though in Sukuna’s case he has more of the “I use very specific words so I’m not misunderstood but people somehow get even more confused by this” autism.

I love how todo, alongside nanami, is one of Yuuji’s best mentor figures. You can really see a lot of Yuki’s mindset and behavior shine through him and I hope we get more of that, through a flashback or todo’s thoughts, before the series ends

(questionably) check. cute? check. intentionally portrays themselves as cute to mask the horrors? check. not actually as evil and selfish as they portray themselves as but instead is a layered character that's a product of their environment and traumas? check check check check

really i should've joined the ranks as a grandmaster level 10000 totty stan, but somehow karamatsu got to me first.

...that being said, todo and kara are very much two sides of the same coin. They’re both very self obsessed and insecure at the same time, they both crave attention, they're both utter boyfails, and they both have moments of genuine goodness hidden under layers of posturing. and i mean many. many layers.

i mean...LOOK AT THEM they both have their own iconic cute/cool poses that they just HAVE to do in official arts. The thing is, Totty is waaaaay better at pulling off cute than Karamatsu is at pulling off cool, which is part of why they feel so different. Season 1 karamatsu was punished for his failed attempts at being cool while season 2 todomatsu was punished for his success at being cute. Todomatsu is also less concerned with keeping up the cute act in front of his brothers. He's more concerned with appearing cute and stylish to the public (women) and appearing normal/trendy. On the other hand, karamatsu is entirely concerned with being the cool, kind older bother for his brothers (and himself) while ALSO being this cool, handsome lone wolf for the public (women).

I think part of the reason why todomatsu is hated and karamatsu is loved is because kara's definition of cool involves being kind, so he’ll play up being the kind older brother even when he doesn't have the best intentions. But totty's definition of cute involves being spoiled, so he’ll really play up the selfishness (and brattiness), even when he has purer intentions than he lets up on. Ultimately though, their dedication to keeping up their outward appearance almost always masks their true intentions or desires (though imo karamatsu is a little more closed off than todomatsu is).

Both Nobara and the blonde witch (Momo?) make good points about the role of women in this Jujutsu society. Momo points out that power is not enough for them, that that which is good enough for men isn't for women, that they are held to higher standards, and for them scars aren't badges of honour as they are for men, but make them undesirable and damaged goods.

And then there's Nobara, pointing out those are sexist standards one doesn't have to adhere to, that it's on them for playing by the rules and having those exigences in mind. That she likes clothes and looking pretty, but for herself, she doesn't expect it from others or respect more someone who does as well if they don't want to, like she likes Maki but dislikes Mai. And she too is right! It's true that adhering to those exigences perpetuates the standards! But what she says doesn't negate what Momo says, which is the fact that, yeah, okay, it sucks, but that's how it is and not playing by the rules just makes everything harder. And harder still for someone like Mai (or Maki) to whom perfection isn't just the goal, but the very starting point being people from one of the main clans. So she can understand and defend Mai's position and approach to the problem, as Nobara understands and defends Maki's.

This all gains layers of complexity and juiciness considering Momo and Mai are Utahime's students and Todo's classmates. I am sure the manga won't go there, but wow is it intriguing how Utahime's situation may have influenced their views. What a pity the manga won't go there
